  Sul fronte opposto, ossia quello
dell'inferno Crowley è prigioniero di Sam e Dean che lo tengono imprigionato nel bunker e Abbadon cerca di
conquistarsi la supremazia sui demoni. Kevin intanto continua la sua traduzione della tavoletta angelica per poter
sistemare la situazione degli angeli caduti, mentre Castiel, ormai caduto e umano per via della sua grazia rubata da
Metatron, vaga avvilito per via di ciò che è successo, inoltre molti angeli lo ritengono responsabile e complice
di Metatron.
  
  Si creano così varie "fazioni" di angeli, quella più numerosa e potente è quella di
Bartolomeo (braccio destro della defunta Naomi). Intanto Castiel viene rapito da un gruppo di angeli, ma riesce a
uccidere uno di loro, Theodoro, assorbendone la grazie riacquistando i poteri angelici, ma non essendo la vera grazia di
Castiel, quest'ultimo non può più contare sugli straordinari poteri che aveva prima. Castiel scopre che Ezechiele
era morto durante la caduta degli angeli e informa Dean, quindi l'angelo che ha salvato Sam è un imbroglione, infatti
il suo nome è Gadreel, finito in prigione per aver permesso in passato al Serpente di accedere al Giardino dell'Eden.
Gadreel uccide Kevin, dato che Metatron gli aveva commissionato l'omicidio del profeta offrendogli la possibilità di
diventare il suo braccio destro. Grazie all'aiuto di Crowley Sam viene liberato dal controllo dell'angelo (che torna nel
suo vecchio tramite), Dean si sente in colpa per la morte di Kevin, dunque si separa da Sam per un po' di tempo,
promettendo a se stesso che ucciderà Gadreel. Intanto Crowley convince Dean ad aiutarlo a uccidere Abbadon, usando
l'unica arma che può uccidere un Cavaliere dell'Inferno, la "prima lama", Dean e Crowley trovano il primo cavaliere,
Caino, esso infonde a Dean il suo marchio, che darà alla prima lama il potere necessario per uccidere Abbadon,
avvertendolo però che il marchio richiede un prezzo da pagare. Dean e Sam ritornano a cacciare insieme, nonostante i
loro diverbi, intanto Castiel uccide Bartolomeo, dopo che quest'ultimo ha cercato di convincerlo con le cattive a
passare dalla sua parte. Dean riesce a trovare la prima lama, con la quale inizia a uccidere, Sam si accorge però che
il marchio di Caino sta influenzando negativamente Dean, il quale alla fine uccide Abbadon. Gadrael, pentitosi di
essersi alleato con Metatron, prova a stringere un'alleanza con Castiel, Dean e Sam, avendo capito che il suo capo è
solo un despota. Dean, ormai fuori controllo per colpa del marchio di Caino, aggredisce Gadrael con la prima lama, ma
Sam e Castiel lo fermano; Metatron ha permesso agli angeli di ritornare in Paradiso, tutti ormai gli sono fedeli,
inoltre Metatron scende tra gli uomini compiendo dei miracoli, infatti non vuole dominare solo il Paradiso, ma anche
l'umanità presentandosi a loro come un Messia. Dean affronta Metatron, ma quest'ultimo lo sconfigge. Castiel decide
di confrontarsi con Metatron, con l'aiuto di Gadreel, il quale muore per aiutare Castiel. Castiel e Metatron si
affrontano, alla fine Metatron confessa i suoi piani, affermando di voler dominare sia gli angeli che gli umani,
inconsapevole che gli altri angeli lo stavano ascoltando, quindi tutti comprendono che Metatron è solo un megalomane,
essi tornano dalla parte di Castiel. Metatron viene rinchiuso in una prigione angelica.
  
  Castiel è
consapevole però che deve ritrovare la sua grazia originale, intanto Sam è disperato perché Dean (in
conseguenza dello scontro con Metatron) sta morendo, ma Crowley rassicura il cacciatore rivelandogli che il marchio di
Caino è più potente perfino della morte, infatti Dean risorge a nuova vita, ma il problema è che si è
